Job Title: Part time Caseworker (2.5 days)

Job Details

Alex is looking for a Caseworker to join his constituency team Leeds North West. This is an opportunity for someone who is passionate about casework and supporting constituents on a range of issues.
The Caseworker will join a well-established team, working alongside the Senior Caseworker. This is a part time position and some evening and weekend work will be required.

Key Responsibilities:
• Deal with queries from constituents by phone and in person, and provide information, advice and support on a wide range of issues
• On behalf of the Member, respond to constituents on casework issues
• Attend surgeries and other meetings relating to constituents’ queries and casework
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant guidelines/legislation as appropriate in dealing with casework
• Log all cases, monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
• Retain records and information confidentially and in line with GDPR

Skills

Essential
• Proven experience with individual casework either, with an MP or in an advice setting
• Experience of interviewing clients/constituents in appointments/surgeries
• Ability to deal with and prioritise a large and varied caseload, and to work well under pressure
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
• Excellent IT skills including using a casework system
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party

Desirable
• Clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Previous experience of working with community organisations and campaign experience
• Knowledge of local constituency advice and support services

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO).
