Petition handed over at CCG meeting as Adel Surgery future discussed

Date: 05.02.20 | in: Health | Tags: ,

Today my office handed in our petition to the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to not allow the closure of Adel Surgery.

At the CCG Primary Care Operational Group meeting, which took place in Hindsley Hall in Headingley, the panel considered the practice’s application to the NHS Leeds CCG asking for the approval to carry out an engagement exercise with patients and other stakeholders in the community.

It is important to note that the discussion focused solely on the commencement of a consultation. It is also important to note that the engagement exercise will be carried out by the practice and not the CCG itself, though the CCG will provide support to the practice in undertaking the exercise. The engagement will be ensured by the Patient Participation Group who will have sign off in the next stage of the process.

Feedback to the consultation will be considered both by the practice and by the CCG.

At the meeting, our petition, which included over 700 names was presented and accepted. Whilst this is an important factor when it comes to expressing the strength of feeling in the community, it is only by engaging fully with the consultation process that the voice of the community will be heard.

I will continue to do my bit to ensure that the voices of patients are heard. I urge all residents and patients who are worried about this to make clear their concerns through the consultation process.
