In this speech, Alex urges the government to think "bigger and bolder". In response to the gap between demand for financial and services sectors (such as in civil engineering) and the supply of staff with relevant skills, the government must increase investment in training to reduce skills shortage.
Alex also encourages the government to create an "energy revolution" (such as Leeds had done in creating White Rose energy) as well as an "insulation revolution" to save energy in housings. In addition, Alex suggests the government to make investment into electric vehicles more universal in order to ensure that minimum of 60% of the UK's energy comes from low-carbon and renewable sources by 2030.
