Alex Sobel on Time for a Public Pay Rise

In this speech, Alex criticises the government for the failure to create a more equal society.

Wealth inequality is particularly damaging to public servants such as firefighters, police, nurses and teachers due to the public sector pay caps as a measure of austerity, created by the current and previous coalition and Conservative government.

Alex also speaks about the struggle faced by public workers as inflation and falling pay makes recruitment and retention in public sectors even worse.

Alex expresses his frustration that the country, unlike David Cameron had said, is not "all in it together". He indicates his disapproval on the low corporate tax rates and tax avoidances which further reduces funding available for the public sector.

Alex concludes by urging for a pay rise for the public sectors instead of praises.
