Alex Sobel has praised the supreme court for their ‘sensational and historic judgement’ after their judgement that the suspension of Parliament was illegal.
“This judgement is a vindication for the millions of British people who were outraged by this abuse of our sovereign Parliament. The prorogation shut down the mechanics of our democracy, halting the scrutiny of Government, the presentation of new legislation and the representation of our constituents at the heart of our system.
I personally, have not been able to put forward key legislation on climate change, nor have I been able to present the deep concerns of my constituents on Brexit, the biggest issue of our time. I was a party to the case in the high court opposing proroguing and the peaceful protests both in Leeds and in Parliament. This sensational and historic judgement has seen us vindicated.”
