Celebrating Diwali - Leeds Connect Celebrations.

I was thrilled and honoured to attend the Leeds Connect Diwali celebration last Saturday, a vibrant and meaningful event that brought together people from all walks of life to celebrate the Festival of Lights. Diwali, as many know, symbolises the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance, a message that resonates deeply across communities and cultures.

Being part of this celebration was a reminder of the importance of unity, hope, and shared joy, especially in times when we need it most.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was being invited to light the ceremonial lamp. It was truly an honour to take part in such a sacred tradition, which marks the beginning of the festivities and carries deep significance in the Diwali celebration.

The event was filled with lots of energy and happiness. From traditional dances and music to vibrant displays of art, the Leeds Connect Diwali celebration offered a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage that our community is proud to embrace.

The performances, showcasing talent from both young and seasoned artists who had come together to celebrate their heritage with pride.

I also had the opportunity to connect with so many people from diverse backgrounds who had come to join in the festivities. Events like these are so important because they bring our community together.

I’d like to extend a thank you to everyone involved in organising this incredible celebration, as well as to those who attended and made it such a welcoming event.
