Alex Sobel is looking for an enthusiastic constituency assistant to join his busy office in Leeds North West
This is an exciting new role in our close-knit and friendly team, with a variety of responsibilities and a versatile working environment.
The successful candidate will often be the first point of call for constituents so they must be friendly and confident in providing first contact advice, and signposting where necessary. Additionally, they will have responsibility for Alex’s diary, managing all events, meetings, and visits, in the constituency and in parliament.
They must also be proactive, organised, reliable, and have sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party.
Duties
Dealing with large number of standard queries from members of the public on policy issues
Assisting the caseworkers in local casework and administration
Assisting the MP at advice surgeries, digital meetings, events and visits
Handling local diary management and organisation of events and meetings
Assisting with the organisation of parliamentary meetings, room bookings, and logistics.
Organisation of visits outside the constituency, communicating with relevant departments to Shadow Ministerial role/responsibilities
Booking surgeries and meetings with constituents and stakeholders
Assisting with the wider work of the team and support running of a busy constituency office
Job Criteria
Essential
Database management using office software (e.9. Microsoft Office and Caseworker.mp) to handle administrative cases
Ability to communicate with constituents on a range of issues. Taking appropriate initial action to resolve, document or escalate enquiries.
Administrative office support and organisational skills to support other members of the team
Diary management and event planning experience
Good time management and ability to work in fast-pace/changing environments
The ability to work successfully with a range of stakeholders
Excellent written, communication and organisational skills
Good knowledge of Alex's work & the Leeds North West Constituency
Ability to work proactively, independently and as part of a team
Desirable
Experience of using caseworker.mp, office 365, social media platforms
Experience of working for an MP
Driving licence and use of a car
