Alex Sobel dropped into Modelsport this week as he continues his summer of meeting constituents and local businesses.
The business which is described as the leading radio controlled car supplier in the UK, is based on Gay Lane in Otley, the street on which it started in 1975. They employ 15 people, many of whom have been with the company all their working lives and operate under an employee ownership model. This struck a chord with the local MP who, as a member of the Co-operative Party, believes strongly in this ethos.
Modelsport maintains an ‘excellent’ 5-star rating on Trust Pilot, with many customers flocking to the website to praise their customer service, prices and swift delivery.
Mr Sobel said “it was a great pleasure to meet Kris, a member of the sales team, and hear about his history in Otley and their plans for the future. It is important that small businesses like Modelsport, who are making waves in their industry are highlighted. It is also great to see Otley’s entrepreneurial culture alive and well.”
Kristian Armitage said: “We were pleased to receive a visit from our local MP and are grateful for his support. Being in Otley is very important to us as we are very rooted here. We hope that local residents will drop in and see what we have to offer.”
