Occupied Palestinian Territories: Humanitarian Situation Debate

Updated: Nov 16, 2023

We need to support the UN General Assembly voted on a resolution calling for an “immediate and sustained humanitarian truce leading to a cessation of hostilities” and “immediate, full, sustained, safe and unhindered humanitarian access for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency ”.

This was supported by countries including France, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland and New Zealand, this week I asked Andrew Mitchell, the Foreign Office Minister, if the UK would support a similar future resolution . My strong view is we will only achieve a humanitarian truce through the UN and other international negotiations especially those taking place in the Middle East.

I questioned the Minister of State, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (Mr Andrew Mitchell) in the House on Wednesday (8th November) on this issue.
